Called “Cucunci” in Sicilian dialect, they are the fruit produced after the caper has blossomed.
With a fleshy pulp, a strong, pungent flavour, and a characteristic, pleasant crunch due to the presence of small seeds inside, they are particularly suitable as a tasty aperitif but also enhance fish or meat dishes.
The small stem that makes them easy to pick up prevents diners from getting their hands dirty.
